Profile
Valerie is a Singapore-registered Educational Psychologist and has been practicing since 2008. She specialises in psycho-educational assessments and interventions with children and young persons aged 18 months to 18 years, helping parents understand their children's development and learning needs. She provides confidential, individually-tailored consultations for both local and international clients.
Valerie was an Educational Psychologist in hospitals and community settings prior to establishing Insight Psychological Services in 2016. She set up her own practice after determining there was a real need to provide assessments and interventions in naturalistic settings to obtain authentic child responses, generalise skills and have meaningful conversations about things that matter.
She is skilled in conducting a wide range of psycho-educational assessments, such as the administration of cognitive, academic, language, social-communication, behavioural, and adaptive skills assessments. She also provides evidence-based interventions for children in school and at home, customised to fit the needs of the individual and the family, with special interests in high-functioning autism, anxiety and selective mutism.
Valerie is an Approved Supervisor for the training of psychologists and has overseen psychologists and researchers from organisations such as A*Star and the Ministry of Education. She also lectures at tertiary institutions and trains other professionals including Early Childhood Educators, Early Intervention Teachers and Allied Educators in special needs support.
